Important: Stripe Billing is not Stripe Payments. Card/bank processing fees are separate and vary by region and payment method. Stripe also now positions advanced usage-based billing under Metronome; basic Meters API capability remains part of Billing pricing. This calculator covers the published Stripe Billing subscription-management fee only.

The architecture question behind the fee

Keep the usage ledger independent even if Stripe stays your biller

The calculator tells you what Stripe Billing costs. UsageBox solves a different problem: preserve retry-safe usage evidence and rollups independently, so pricing or billing-provider changes do not require rewriting product instrumentation.

Billing volume is the fee base

Stripe publishes Billing's pay-as-you-go price as a percentage of Billing volume, including Billing transactions processed on and off Stripe and excluding one-off invoices.

Usage-based billing is now a separate decision

Stripe positions advanced usage-based billing through Metronome, while basic Meters API functionality remains available within Billing pricing. Do not assume the Billing percentage buys the whole Metronome product.

Usage evidence can stay independent

Whatever financial system rates and invoices the customer, an independent usage ledger keeps retry semantics and historical quantities outside that vendor-specific billing object model.
